Work / Creation

In my work I primarily use movement gesture, forming into asymmetrical positions as a tool to build meaningful dance images. I am interested in the use of speech, voice and sound as additional aspects of supporting the meaning of a given dance piece. In terms of dramaturgy, I work with social themes that relate to trauma, understanding the past and offer questions that one must confront throughout life.

Hot Club Portugal (2022)

The solo works with the principle structure of jazz jam sessions. The movement is made up of structured improvisation on musical instruments, which are later developed and varied in collaboration with the audience. A big inspiration was the first visit to the Hot Club Portugal jazz club in Lisbon during Erasmus+.

Solo was part of the festival Kiosk in Žilina in the section New Faces of Slovak Contemporary Dance.

Echoes of my father (2022)

The solo opens up the question of the absence of the father in the young woman's life. She confronts her memories and her need for a first male figure. The need for touch and acceptance is intertwined with gestural material created from 25 photographs and moments that balance between dream and reality.
The solo was part of the Art Moves showcase of young work and the NuDance fest in the New Faces of Contemporary Dance II - Short Solos section.

SECOND (2021)

Bachelor solo inspired by Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex. It opens up the issue of mother-daughter relationship, building one's own identity and independence after leaving the parental nest. The performer uses movement to respond to voiceovers that influence the rhythm and dynamics of the movement. The recorded monologues are also a personal documentary window into the traumas of the performer's childhood.

MÍTÚ (2021)

The trio works with the issue of violence against women. It seeks to highlight the universality of the problem and offers the audience an insight into the minds of women trying to defend themselves from violence. The movement material is inspired by the five points of self-defence and uses spoken word alongside gradations of movement and repetition. Either way, the hardest of the points will always be ''Say it.''
